Are we trying to save some of these videos for the first afternoon session - or just choosing for the faculty meeting?
\n
\nI thought I was hearing "We Think" for the fac. mtg; and "Pay Attention" and Ed. For Well-Being" for the Thurs. session. (with some votes leaning toward "21st cent .learner"
\n
\nAlso, I think we should consider the "2 million minutes" trailer - without any discussion, but just as a great teaser for the Retreat. It is only about 2 minutes, and makes you want to hear more.
\n
\nI am also concerned that a lot of committee members may not yet be using the wiki, so I'm sending this by email also. Please let me know your thoughts asap! I know the pay attention video is pretty much decided on and I think that is great. I do think it would be good at some point to include the 21st century learner. Although I don't love the whole video, I like that it shows the older gentleman at the end. I think it is so easy to think all the technology only applies to kids and that visual really pulls it back.

While it is good, I think that others have a broader reach in terms of IOI...so my vote is for We Think, Pay Attention and 21st Century Learner (the short one that ends with the older guy's pic)....","replyPages":[{"page":0,"digests":[{"id":"5390425","body":"I think I favor Pay Attention, as long as we feel our fellow faculty members will be able to pay attention for 7+ minutes at 4 PM! I'm not particularly impressed with the cell phone example, but it should generate some discussion. I also think the short 21st C Learner has potential, but I'm wrestling with whether it makes this 55-year-old guy feel antiquated or appropriately challenged to get moving!
\n
\nI think Education for Well Being could be an effective video to start a discussion about the central place that Education for Sustainability should have in our 21st-century program. In fact, I think I would be willing to build a retreat session around it, drawing on readings and discussions that were part of the Sustainable Program Steering Com's visioning work last spring. I think they would be well suited for the retreat keynote on Thursday. I think that the "We Think" video would be great for the full faculty meeting because of its emphasis on community building and idea sharing, which are important premises of our new faculty driven retreat. I think it is also a little more upbeat than the others and will empower faculty to believe in their own creativity and contributions to learning.
